Saudi Arabia eVisa Requirements and Required Documents

Saudi Arabia’s tourist eVisa has both eligibility requirements and application requirements. Eligibility determines whether the traveler can use the electronic visa route. Application requirements determine which passport, photograph, personal details, and supporting information must be prepared before the request is submitted.

For the standard nationality-based route, the applicant must hold a valid passport from a country currently accepted by the Saudi tourist eVisa system. The passport must generally remain valid for at least six months from the intended date of entry, and the traveler must arrive using the same passport entered in the application.

The eVisa is intended for permitted short-term activities such as tourism, leisure, events, visiting family or relatives, and Umrah outside the Hajj route. It must not be used for paid employment, formal study, residence, or Hajj.

Saudi Arabia eVisa Requirements at a Glance

Meeting the listed requirements allows an applicant to use the relevant application route, but it does not guarantee that an eVisa will be approved. Approval remains subject to the responsible Saudi authorities, and payment of an application fee does not itself guarantee issuance.

What Is the Difference Between Requirements and Required Documents?

The terms are closely connected, but they do not mean exactly the same thing.

Saudi Arabia eVisa requirements are the conditions that apply to the traveler and journey. They include passport eligibility, passport validity, permitted travel purpose, truthful information, and the use of the same passport during travel.

Required documents and information are the items used to complete the application. These normally include the current passport, a recent digital photograph, an accessible email address, personal and contact details, basic travel information, and an online payment method.

A traveler may have every file ready but still be unsuitable for the tourist eVisa route because the passport or travel purpose does not meet the applicable conditions. Similarly, an eligible traveler may be unable to complete the application correctly if the passport information, photograph, or contact details are missing or inaccurate.

Eligibility should therefore be checked before documents are prepared or an application fee is paid.

Who Can Apply for a Saudi Arabia Tourist eVisa?

The standard tourist eVisa route is available to citizens holding passports from countries included in the current Saudi eVisa list.

Eligibility is based on the passport and route being used, not simply on where the applicant lives.

For example, a person living in Germany but traveling with a passport issued by another country should not select Germany as their nationality unless they are also a German citizen and intend to use a German passport for the journey.

Applicants can check the current nationality-based routes through the Saudi Arabia eVisa eligible countries list.

Current KSA Visa information also describes tourism eVisa eligibility for certain travelers who hold qualifying US, UK, or Schengen visit visas, some permanent residents of the United States, European Union, or United Kingdom, and residents of Gulf Cooperation Council countries. These routes have their own conditions and should not be confused with eligibility based solely on passport nationality.

Travelers whose circumstances do not fit the standard eligible-country route can review the available Saudi Arabia visa options and eligibility routes before preparing an application.

Which Travel Purposes Are Permitted?

The tourist eVisa may be used for permitted short-term activities such as:

  • Holidays and sightseeing

  • Leisure travel

  • Tourism-related events

  • Visiting family members or relatives

  • Umrah outside the Hajj visa route

The tourist eVisa should not be used for:

  • Paid employment

  • Beginning a job in Saudi Arabia

  • Formal or long-term study

  • Establishing residence

  • Performing Hajj

  • Another activity requiring a separate visa or authorization

The principal purpose of the journey should match the visa route selected by the applicant.

A traveler attending a holiday and visiting relatives may fit the tourist route. A traveler entering to begin employment, enroll in a formal academic programme, establish residence, or perform Hajj must consider the route created for that activity.

What Should You Prepare Before Applying?

Before beginning the online application, prepare:

  • The current passport that will be used for travel

  • A recent digital photograph of the applicant

  • An active and correctly spelled email address

  • Current personal and contact information

  • Basic information about the intended journey

  • A payment method that can be used online

Each traveler’s information should be prepared separately.

A parent or authorized adult may complete an application for a child, but the application must use the child’s own passport, photograph, date of birth, nationality, and other requested information. The official terms also allow an authorized person to apply on behalf of another adult.

Do not combine one family member’s passport details with another person’s photograph, email record, or personal information.

Quick Eligibility and Document Check

Before continuing, confirm that:

  • The selected eVisa route applies to the passport or qualifying status being used

  • The planned journey fits the permitted tourist eVisa activities

  • The passport will have sufficient validity on the intended entry date

  • The same passport will be used for both the application and travel

  • The applicant’s personal information can be copied accurately

  • A suitable digital photograph is available

  • The registered email address can receive messages

  • Every traveler has separate and correct application information

Applicants should resolve any uncertainty about nationality, passport validity, travel purpose, or the correct visa route before submitting personal information or paying an application fee.

Who Meets the Saudi Arabia eVisa Eligibility Requirements?

Saudi Arabia provides more than one tourism visa route. The eligibility conditions depend on the route the traveler intends to use.

For many applicants, eligibility is based on citizenship and the passport presented during the application. Other travelers may qualify through a separate tourism route connected to an eligible foreign visa, permanent residence status, or residence in a Gulf Cooperation Council country.

These routes should not be combined or treated as identical. Applicants must select the route that accurately reflects their passport and current immigration status.

Eligibility Based on Passport Nationality

The standard Saudi tourist eVisa route is available to citizens of countries included in the current eligible-country list.

For this route:

  • The applicant must be a citizen of an eligible country

  • The application must use a passport issued to that applicant

  • The nationality selected must match the passport being used

  • The same passport must be presented when traveling to Saudi Arabia

  • The passport must meet the applicable validity requirements

Living in an eligible country does not by itself make a traveler eligible through that country.

For example, a citizen of India who lives in France should not select France as their nationality unless they also hold French citizenship and intend to travel using a French passport.

Applicants should check the current Saudi Arabia eVisa eligible countries list using the passport they plan to present during the journey.

Nationality, Residence, and Country of Birth Are Different

Several application fields may refer to different countries.

An applicant may have:

  • One country of citizenship

  • A different country of residence

  • Another country of birth

  • A passport issued through an embassy or consulate in a fourth country

These facts do not automatically conflict, but each field must be answered according to what it specifically requests.

Consider a Brazilian citizen who was born in Argentina and currently lives in Spain:

  • Nationality: Brazil

  • Country of birth: Argentina

  • Country of residence: Spain

  • Passport nationality: Brazil

The fact that the passport was renewed at a Brazilian consulate in Spain would not change the applicant’s nationality to Spain.

Do not enter a residence country as the nationality merely because it appears on a residence permit, local identity card, address record, or employment document.

Applicants With a US, UK, or Schengen Visit Visa

Current KSA Visa information identifies holders of qualifying visit visas issued by the United States, United Kingdom, or a Schengen country as a group that may have access to a tourism eVisa route.

This is separate from ordinary nationality-based eligibility.

Holding one of these visas should not be treated as automatic eligibility without checking the current conditions attached to that route. The applicant should verify:

  • The type of foreign visa held

  • Whether the visa is still valid

  • Whether the issuing country and visa category are accepted

  • Whether any previous-use condition applies

  • Whether the foreign visa is connected to the same passport used for the Saudi application

  • Whether the intended Saudi visit is permitted under the tourism route

Do not select an eligible nationality that you do not hold simply because you possess a visa issued by that country.

A US visa, for example, does not make the holder a US citizen. It may be relevant only through the separate route that recognizes qualifying foreign visas.

Permanent Residents of the United States, European Union, or United Kingdom

Current KSA Visa information also identifies certain permanent residents of the United States, European Union, or United Kingdom as potentially eligible through a tourism eVisa route.

Permanent residence is different from:

  • A short-term visitor visa

  • A temporary work permit

  • A student visa

  • An asylum application receipt

  • A pending residence application

  • A recently expired residence card

Applicants relying on permanent residence should check whether their specific status and supporting document satisfy the current application conditions.

The nationality field must still reflect the passport being used. Permanent residence in another country does not replace the traveler’s citizenship or passport nationality.

Residents of Gulf Cooperation Council Countries

Residents of Gulf Cooperation Council countries may also have access to a tourism eVisa route under current KSA Visa information.

The GCC countries are:

  • Bahrain

  • Kuwait

  • Oman

  • Qatar

  • Saudi Arabia

  • United Arab Emirates

A foreign national living in one of these countries should not assume that residence alone is sufficient in every case.

The applicant should verify the current conditions concerning:

  • Valid residence status

  • Residence-document validity

  • Occupation or professional category when requested

  • Passport validity

  • Whether accompanying family members qualify

  • The application route currently available for the traveler’s circumstances

GCC residence must not be entered as nationality unless the applicant is also a citizen of that country.

Dual Nationals and Travelers With More Than One Passport

A dual national should decide which passport will be used before beginning the Saudi eVisa application.

The selected passport determines:

  • The nationality entered in the application

  • The passport number and issuing country

  • The eligibility route being relied upon

  • The document that must be presented during travel

Do not combine:

  • Nationality from one passport

  • Passport number from another passport

  • Expiry date from an older document

  • Foreign visa or residence status connected to a different passport without checking whether it remains usable

For example, a traveler holding both Canadian and Lebanese passports may qualify through the Canadian passport. In that case, the application and journey should consistently use the Canadian passport.

Carrying another passport does not correct an eVisa issued against different passport details.

Children and Applicants Under 18

A person must be at least 18 years old to use the official eVisa service independently.

A parent, legal guardian, or another authorized adult may complete an application for a child. The adult accepts the applicable terms on the child’s behalf and must have the authority to act for that child.

The child’s application must use the child’s own:

  • Passport

  • Nationality

  • Full legal name

  • Date of birth

  • Personal photograph

  • Other requested information

A child is not automatically included in a parent’s eVisa. Each traveler must be represented through their own passport and application information.

Eligibility should therefore be checked separately for every family member, even when the applications are prepared together.

Applying on Behalf of Another Adult

An application may also be completed on behalf of another adult when the person submitting it has permission and authority to act for the traveler.

The person completing the form should use the traveler’s actual information and should not rely only on:

  • Informal messages

  • Previously stored traveler profiles

  • Old passport copies

  • Assumptions about nationality or residence

  • Details copied from another family member

Whenever possible, the traveler should review the completed information before submission.

Assisting with an application does not allow the person completing it to change the traveler’s nationality, purpose of travel, passport details, or eligibility circumstances.

When Is the Tourist eVisa Route Not Suitable?

The tourist eVisa route is not suitable when:

  • The applicant does not meet the conditions of an available tourism eVisa route

  • The selected nationality does not match the passport being used

  • The applicant intends to travel using a different passport

  • The main purpose is paid employment

  • The journey involves formal study or establishing residence

  • The traveler intends to perform Hajj

  • Another purpose-specific visa or authorization is required

  • False nationality, residence, or passport information would be needed to continue

A traveler whose passport is not included in the standard eligible-country list should not select another nationality merely to gain access to the application.

Depending on the traveler’s circumstances, another tourism or visit visa route may still be available through KSA Visa, an authorized service center, or a Saudi embassy.

The absence of a nationality from the standard eVisa list means that the applicant must identify another valid route. It does not justify changing or concealing passport information.

Eligibility Check Before Preparing Documents

Before collecting the remaining application documents, confirm:

  1. Which passport will be used for travel

  2. Which nationality is shown on that passport

  3. Whether the nationality appears on the current eligible-country list

  4. Whether another qualifying visa or residence route is being relied upon

  5. Whether the qualifying status is current and connected to the passport being used

  6. Whether the traveler’s main purpose is permitted under the tourism eVisa

  7. Whether an authorized adult is required to apply for a child

Once the correct eligibility route has been identified, the applicant can prepare the passport details, photograph, contact information, and travel information required for that application.

Passport Requirements for a Saudi Arabia eVisa

The passport used for a Saudi Arabia eVisa must belong to the traveler, satisfy the applicable eligibility conditions, and remain valid for at least six months from the intended date of entry.

Applicants should use the current passport they genuinely intend to present during the journey. An expired passport, a canceled passport, or details copied from a previous travel document should not be used to complete the application.

Use the Passport Intended for Travel

Before entering any passport information, decide which document will be used for the entire journey.

The same passport should be used for:

  • Checking nationality-based eligibility

  • Completing the eVisa application

  • Receiving the issued eVisa

  • Airline or travel-document checks

  • Entry into Saudi Arabia

This is particularly important for dual nationals, recently renewed passport holders, and travelers who possess more than one valid travel document.

Do not begin the application with one passport and plan to travel using another.

Six-Month Passport Validity Requirement

The passport must have at least six months of remaining validity at the time the traveler enters Saudi Arabia.

The calculation should be based on the intended entry date, not only the date on which the application is submitted.

For example, if the traveler plans to enter Saudi Arabia on October 10, the passport should generally remain valid until at least April 10 of the following year.

Applicants whose passports are close to the required validity limit should consider renewing before applying. This reduces the risk of the passport no longer meeting the condition if the travel date changes.

A visa’s validity period does not extend the validity of the passport connected to it. Both the passport and the eVisa must remain suitable for the intended journey.

Copy Passport Details From the Biographical Page

Enter passport information directly from the page containing the traveler’s photograph and personal details.

The application may request:

  • Full name

  • Given name or names

  • Surname

  • Passport number

  • Passport type

  • Nationality

  • Issuing country

  • Date of birth

  • Place or country of birth

  • Passport issue date

  • Passport expiry date

Do not complete these fields from memory, an airline account, a hotel booking, an old visa, or a saved traveler profile.

Even when previously saved information was correct, it may refer to an expired or replaced passport.

Enter the Name as Shown in the Passport

Use the legal name shown on the passport’s biographical page.

Do not:

  • Replace a legal name with a nickname

  • Translate the name into another language

  • Change the spelling to match a social media or airline account

  • Remove a middle or additional given name without checking the passport

  • Use a former surname that is no longer shown

  • Rearrange names according to personal preference

When the passport contains several name components, follow the application’s field labels carefully. Do not guess which part belongs in the given-name or surname field simply to continue.

The final application should be compared with the passport before submission to confirm that the name has not been shortened, reordered, or entered in the wrong field.

Check the Passport Number Character by Character

Passport numbers may contain letters, numbers, or a combination of both.

Common reading mistakes include confusing:

  • The letter O with the number 0

  • The letter I with the number 1

  • The letter B with the number 8

  • The letter S with the number 5

Check every character directly against the passport.

Do not add spaces, hyphens, or punctuation unless the application specifically requests or displays them. Browser autofill should also be reviewed carefully because it may insert information from an older passport.

Do Not Confuse the Issue Date and Expiry Date

The passport issue date is the date on which the document became valid. The expiry date is the date on which the passport ceases to be valid.

These dates should be entered in the format requested by the application.

Pay particular attention when:

  • The passport uses a day-month-year format

  • The application displays month before day

  • The month is shown as a number

  • The passport was issued and renewed in similar months

  • Information has been copied from another document

A correctly typed date can still be wrong when it has been entered in the wrong field or date format.

Passport-Issuing Country Is Not Always the Current Location

The passport-issuing country should be answered according to the travel document and the field instructions.

A passport may have been issued or renewed through an embassy or consulate outside the holder’s country of citizenship. This does not automatically change the traveler’s nationality.

For example, a Canadian passport renewed through a Canadian mission in Japan remains a Canadian passport.

Applicants should not replace the passport country with their country of residence merely because the passport was issued while they were living abroad.

Recently Renewed Passports

A traveler who has recently renewed a passport should use the new document when that is the passport intended for the journey.

Before submitting the application, check that:

  • The new passport number has been entered

  • The new issue and expiry dates are correct

  • Browser autofill has not inserted details from the previous passport

  • Any qualifying foreign visa or residence status being relied upon remains connected to the relevant passport

  • Travel bookings are updated when necessary

Do not use an old passport number merely because it appears in a previous booking or visa record.

The old and new passports are separate travel documents, even when they belong to the same person.

What If the Passport Is Renewed After Applying?

An applicant should not assume that an application or issued eVisa automatically transfers to a replacement passport.

If the passport is renewed, lost, stolen, damaged, or replaced after the application has been submitted, the traveler should check the status of the existing application and seek instructions through the appropriate support channel before traveling.

Do not edit an issued eVisa file or attempt to replace its passport number manually.

When requesting assistance, keep the following information available:

  • Applicant’s full name

  • Application reference number

  • Registered email address

  • Previous passport number

  • Replacement passport number

  • Clear explanation of why the passport changed

Sensitive passport information should be shared only through the appropriate secure channel, not through public comments, social media, or unofficial forums.

Dual Nationals and Multiple Valid Passports

A dual national should select one passport before beginning the application and use it consistently.

For example, a traveler holding Canadian and Lebanese passports may qualify for the nationality-based eVisa route through the Canadian passport. In that case, the Canadian passport should normally be used for the eligibility check, application details, issued eVisa, and journey.

Do not combine:

  • Nationality from one passport

  • Passport number from another passport

  • Expiry date from a previous document

  • A photograph or application record belonging to another traveler

Carrying both passports during the journey does not correct an eVisa issued against inconsistent passport information.

Passport Requirements for Children

Each child must have their own passport information entered in their application.

A child’s application should use the child’s:

  • Current passport

  • Full legal name

  • Passport number

  • Nationality

  • Date of birth

  • Issue and expiry dates

  • Personal photograph

Do not enter a parent’s passport number or personal details in fields that refer to the child.

When several family applications are being prepared, keep each traveler’s passport details and files in a separate folder. Check the applicant’s name before uploading or entering any information.

Damaged or Unreadable Passports

The information used in the application must be readable and capable of being copied accurately.

Problems may arise when:

  • The biographical page is torn

  • Important text is faded

  • The photograph or laminate is damaged

  • A passport number cannot be read confidently

  • Pages are missing or detached

  • The document has been reported lost or stolen

Do not guess an unreadable character or reconstruct missing information from memory.

A traveler with a damaged or unreliable passport should contact the authority that issued the document and determine whether it must be replaced before applying or traveling.

Final Passport Check

Before continuing to the remaining application documents, confirm that:

  • The passport belongs to the applicant

  • It is the passport intended for travel

  • It satisfies the applicable eligibility route

  • It will have at least six months of validity on the intended entry date

  • The full name has been copied accurately

  • The passport number has been checked character by character

  • The issue and expiry dates are in the correct fields

  • The nationality and issuing-country answers are accurate

  • No information has been copied from an expired or replaced passport

  • Each family member’s passport details are stored separately

Applicants who are ready to enter these details can review how to complete a Saudi Arabia eVisa application step by step.

Required Documents and Information for a Saudi Arabia eVisa

The standard Saudi tourist eVisa application is completed online. Applicants should prepare the core documents and information needed to establish their identity, passport eligibility, contact details, and intended travel purpose.

The official eVisa terms identify a valid passport from an eligible country as the main supporting travel document for the standard nationality-based route. The application process also requires a personal photograph, an accessible email address, accurate application information, and online payment.

The exact fields displayed may vary according to the route and the applicant’s circumstances. Additional information may be requested when needed to verify identity or eligibility.

Core Saudi eVisa Application Items

Applicants should prepare:

  • The current passport that will be used for travel

  • A recent digital photograph

  • An active email address

  • Current personal and contact information

  • Passport and identity details

  • Basic information about the intended visit

  • A payment method that can be used online

  • Separate information for every traveler

These items should be checked before the application is started. Information taken from expired passports, old traveler profiles, previous applications, or another family member’s documents should not be reused without verification.

Current Passport

Keep the current passport available throughout the application.

The passport should:

  • Belong to the applicant

  • Support the eligibility route being used

  • Remain valid for the required period

  • Contain clear and readable personal information

  • Be the same passport the traveler intends to present during the journey

Applicants may need to provide information from the passport’s biographical page, including:

  • Full legal name

  • Passport number

  • Passport type

  • Nationality

  • Issuing country

  • Date of birth

  • Passport issue date

  • Passport expiry date

Do not use an expired, canceled, replaced, damaged, or reported-lost passport.

The passport requirements and common data-entry problems have been addressed separately in the passport section above and should not be confused with the remaining application documents.

Recent Digital Photograph

A recent digital photograph of the applicant must be prepared.

Under the current official specifications, the photograph should:

  • Measure 200 × 200 pixels

  • Have a file size between 5 KB and 100 KB

  • Show the applicant’s face and upper shoulders clearly

  • Show the face occupying approximately 70%–80% of the image

  • Be no more than six months old

  • Use a plain white background

  • Contain no other person or object

  • Show no background shadow

  • Present the applicant facing the camera

  • Keep the main facial features visible

The photograph must belong to the person named in the application.

Do not use:

  • A cropped group photograph

  • A social media profile picture

  • A screenshot

  • An image of a printed photograph

  • A heavily edited or filtered image

  • A photograph containing another person

  • An image that has become blurred after resizing

Religious head coverings may be accepted when the face remains visible from the lower chin to the forehead and no shadow covers the facial features.

Before uploading the file, open it at full size and confirm that it remains clear and correctly proportioned.

Active Email Address

Use an email address that the applicant can access throughout the process.

The email may be used for:

  • Account registration or verification

  • Application-related messages

  • Requests for further action

  • Notification of the application result

  • Delivery of an approved eVisa as an attachment

  • Payment or transaction records

Check the spelling carefully before continuing.

Avoid using:

  • A temporary email service

  • An account with full storage

  • An address that is no longer monitored

  • A work or school email that may soon be deactivated

  • Another person’s email without permission

After submission, the applicant should monitor the main inbox as well as spam, junk, promotions, and filtered folders.

Personal and Identity Information

The application may request information needed to identify the applicant and assess eligibility.

This may include:

  • Full legal name

  • Date of birth

  • Gender

  • Country or place of birth

  • Nationality

  • Country of residence

  • Marital status

  • Occupation

  • Residential address

  • Telephone number

  • National identification information when applicable

Not every field will necessarily appear in the same form or route.

Each question should be answered according to what it specifically requests. Nationality, country of birth, country of residence, and passport-issuing country may all have different answers.

For example, a Brazilian citizen born in Argentina and living in Spain would normally provide:

  • Nationality: Brazil

  • Country of birth: Argentina

  • Country of residence: Spain

The applicant should not change an answer merely to make the form appear eligible.

Contact Information

Prepare current and usable contact details.

These may include:

  • Email address

  • Mobile or telephone number

  • Residential address

  • Country of residence

  • Emergency or local contact information when requested

Do not use an inactive telephone number or an address that no longer represents the applicant’s current circumstances.

When another person is assisting with the application, distinguish between the applicant’s information and the assistant’s contact details. The application should not accidentally replace the traveler’s identity information with that of a parent, relative, employer, or travel organizer.

Travel Information

Applicants should prepare the main facts about their intended journey.

The application may request information such as:

  • Intended arrival date

  • Expected departure date

  • Purpose of travel

  • Planned length of stay

  • Accommodation information

  • An address in Saudi Arabia

  • Contact information during the visit

  • Basic travel-plan details

Provide the most accurate information available at the time of application.

Do not invent a hotel, host, address, or itinerary merely to fill a field. When travel arrangements are not yet final, follow the instructions displayed in the application and provide only genuine information.

The travel purpose must remain consistent with the tourist eVisa route. A tourism application should not be used to conceal employment, formal study, residence, or Hajj.

Online Payment Method

A suitable online payment method is needed to complete the submission process.

Before reaching the payment stage, check that:

  • The payment method is active

  • Online transactions are permitted

  • International verification can be completed when required

  • Sufficient funds are available

  • The billing information can be entered correctly

The applicable amount should be reviewed before payment is confirmed.

Do not repeat the transaction immediately when the payment page is slow. First determine whether a confirmation, invoice, or completed transaction already exists.

Payment of the application fee does not guarantee that the eVisa will be approved.

Separate Information for Every Traveler

Every adult and child must be represented using their own identity, passport, and photograph.

For each traveler, prepare a separate set of:

  • Passport details

  • Full legal name

  • Date of birth

  • Nationality information

  • Personal photograph

  • Contact or application information when requested

A parent or authorized adult may complete an application for a child, but the child’s application must not use the parent’s passport number, photograph, or identity information.

When preparing several applications, use a clearly named folder for each traveler. Confirm the applicant’s name before entering passport information or selecting an image file.

Are Flight Tickets and Hotel Bookings Required?

The official standard Saudi eVisa terms do not present a confirmed flight ticket or prepaid hotel booking as a universal supporting document for every nationality-based eVisa application.

The application may still ask for intended dates, accommodation information, a Saudi address, or other travel-plan details.

Applicants should therefore distinguish between:

  • Providing accurate travel information

  • Uploading a confirmed and prepaid booking as a mandatory document

Do not make non-refundable travel purchases solely because an application has been submitted. Submission and payment do not guarantee visa issuance.

Is a Bank Statement Required?

A bank statement is not identified in the official standard eVisa terms as a universal document that every nationality-based applicant must upload.

However, travelers are required to be able to support themselves and any dependants during the visit. Additional financial information may also be requested when necessary under a particular route or eligibility review.

Do not create, alter, or submit a financial document unless it is genuinely requested and accurately represents the applicant’s circumstances.

Is an Invitation Letter Required?

An invitation letter is not presented as a universal requirement for every standard tourist eVisa application.

A traveler using the tourist eVisa for an eligible holiday, leisure visit, family visit, or Umrah journey may not be following a host-sponsored application route.

An invitation or sponsor-related document may be relevant under another visa category, such as:

  • A dedicated family visit

  • A business visit

  • A medical visit

  • Employment

  • Education

  • Residence

Applicants should not obtain an informal invitation letter merely to make a tourist application appear stronger when the application does not request one.

Is a Printed Application Form Required?

The standard eVisa process is electronic.

Applicants complete the application, make the required payment, and receive the result online. A printed paper application is not normally the basis of the standard online eVisa route.

The applicant should still save:

  • The submission confirmation

  • Application reference

  • Payment record or invoice

  • Issued eVisa when approved

A copy of the issued eVisa should be kept accessible for travel.

Can Additional Documents Be Requested?

Yes.

The Saudi Ministry of Tourism’s current privacy policy states that the platform may collect additional information needed to verify identity or eligibility.

An applicant may therefore receive a request concerning:

  • Identity information

  • Passport details

  • Personal photograph

  • Contact information

  • Travel-plan details

  • Financial information

  • Another matter relevant to verification

The applicant should respond only through the appropriate application or support channel and provide information relating to the correct traveler.

Do not send passport copies, financial records, or other sensitive documents through public forums, social media comments, or unverified email addresses.

Final Required Documents Checklist

Before beginning the application, confirm that:

  • The current passport is available

  • The passport details are clear and readable

  • The digital photograph meets the current specifications

  • The applicant can access the registered email address

  • Personal and contact information is current

  • Basic travel information is available

  • An online payment method is ready

  • Each traveler’s documents and information are stored separately

  • No information has been copied from an expired passport or another applicant

  • Any additional document requested later can be provided through a secure channel

Applicants who have prepared these items can review how to apply for a Saudi Arabia eVisa before completing the online form.

Special Saudi Arabia eVisa Application Situations

Some applications require additional care even when the traveler appears to meet the general eligibility and document requirements.

The applicant should review any situation involving another country of residence, more than one passport, a child, an authorized representative, recently changed travel documents, or information that no longer matches the original application.

Applying From a Country Other Than Your Country of Citizenship

A traveler may live, work, or study in a country different from the country shown on their passport.

For the standard nationality-based eVisa route, the applicant should continue to enter:

  • The nationality shown on the passport

  • The passport details from the document being used for travel

  • The actual country of residence where requested

  • The genuine residential address and contact information

The country from which the application is submitted does not change the applicant’s citizenship.

For example, an Australian citizen living in the United Arab Emirates should normally enter Australia as the nationality and the United Arab Emirates as the country of residence.

Applicants should not use their country of residence as their nationality merely because they are applying from that location.

A person relying on GCC residence, permanent residence, or a qualifying US, UK, or Schengen visit visa must follow the route and conditions connected to that status. This is different from applying solely through passport nationality.

Family and Group Applications

Traveling together does not merge several people into one eVisa holder.

Each traveler must have an eVisa connected to their own:

  • Identity

  • Passport

  • Nationality

  • Date of birth

  • Personal photograph

  • Application information

The same parent, family member, travel organizer, or authorized representative may prepare several applications, but the information for each traveler must remain separate.

A useful family-application method is to create one clearly named folder for each person.

For example:

  • Maria-Santos

  • Daniel-Santos

  • Lucas-Santos

Each folder should contain only that traveler’s passport information, photograph, and application record.

This reduces the risk of uploading a child’s photograph to a parent’s application or using one family member’s passport number in another person’s form.

Applications for Children

A person under 18 cannot use the official eVisa service independently.

A parent, legal guardian, or another adult with the required authority may complete the application on the child’s behalf.

The child’s application must still use the child’s own:

  • Passport

  • Legal name

  • Date of birth

  • Nationality

  • Personal photograph

  • Other requested details

The adult completing the form should not enter their own passport number, date of birth, or photograph in a field that refers to the child.

The official terms require the person acting for a minor to have authority to accept the applicable conditions on the child’s behalf.

Applying on Behalf of Another Adult

An adult may complete an eVisa application for another adult when authorized to do so.

The representative should work from the traveler’s current documents and obtain direct confirmation of important details before submitting the application.

The traveler should review:

  • Full legal name

  • Passport number

  • Nationality

  • Date of birth

  • Passport issue and expiry dates

  • Email address

  • Intended travel purpose

  • Personal photograph

A representative should not answer from memory or assume that information from a previous journey remains current.

The official terms make the representative responsible for having authority to act for the applicant.

Using a Foreign Visa or Residence Status to Qualify

Some travelers may rely on a qualifying US, UK, or Schengen visit visa, permanent residence status, or GCC residence rather than the standard eligible-nationality route.

Applicants using one of these routes should confirm that:

  • The visa or residence status is currently valid

  • The status belongs to the applicant

  • The details are accurate

  • The route remains available when the application is made

  • The passport used in the Saudi application is suitable for that qualifying status

  • Any additional condition displayed during the application is satisfied

A residence card or foreign visa must not be presented as citizenship.

For example, holding a French residence permit does not allow a non-French citizen to enter France as their nationality. The nationality field must continue to match the passport being used.

Current KSA Visa information lists qualifying foreign-visa holders, certain permanent residents, and GCC residents as possible tourism eVisa applicants, but these routes remain subject to their current conditions.

What If the Passport Changes After Submission?

A traveler may receive a replacement passport because the previous document:

  • Expired

  • Was renewed early

  • Was lost or stolen

  • Became damaged

  • Changed following a legal name update

  • Was replaced by the issuing authority

An application or issued eVisa should not be assumed to transfer automatically to the replacement passport.

The official entry conditions require the traveler to arrive using the same passport used in the eVisa application.

When the passport changes after submission, the applicant should contact the appropriate support channel before traveling and provide the relevant application reference and replacement-passport information.

Do not attempt to edit the issued eVisa file manually.

Any request involving modification of an electronic visa must be submitted to the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the competent authority.

What If Information Is Incorrect After Submission?

The application should be reviewed carefully before payment because an error discovered afterward may require official assistance or a new application.

Potentially serious errors include:

  • Incorrect passport number

  • Wrong nationality

  • Wrong date of birth

  • Name belonging to another traveler

  • Passport expiry date copied incorrectly

  • Photograph belonging to someone else

  • Travel purpose that does not reflect the actual journey

Do not alter the downloaded eVisa, cover incorrect information, or assume that a handwritten correction will be accepted.

Contact the appropriate official support channel and explain the error clearly.

Keep the following information available:

  • Applicant’s full name

  • Application reference

  • Registered email address

  • Passport number

  • Description of the error

  • Correct information

  • Copy of the relevant document when securely requested

The official terms require true and accurate information. An application containing false or misleading information may be rejected, while failure to provide information necessary for the service may lead to suspension or withdrawal of the service or eVisa.

What If Travel Plans Change?

A minor itinerary change does not necessarily change the traveler’s underlying visa category.

For example, changing hotels or visiting Jeddah instead of Riyadh is different from changing the main purpose of travel.

The application should be reconsidered when the revised journey involves:

  • Beginning employment

  • Performing paid work

  • Formal study

  • Establishing residence

  • Medical treatment under another route

  • Business activities requiring a different visa

  • Hajj

  • Another purpose outside the tourist eVisa conditions

The traveler should also check that the eVisa remains valid for the new travel date and that the passport will still have at least six months of validity at the time of entry.

If the eVisa expires before the traveler enters Saudi Arabia, the official terms require a new application and another application fee.

Common Saudi eVisa Application Mistakes

Most avoidable problems are caused by choosing the wrong route, copying information inaccurately, or failing to review the complete application before submission.

Selecting the Wrong Eligibility Route

Do not use nationality-based eligibility when the passport is not from an eligible country.

Similarly, do not select a residence-based or foreign-visa route unless the applicant genuinely holds the required status.

The route chosen should accurately reflect the applicant’s circumstances.

Entering Residence as Nationality

Nationality should match the passport being used.

Living in Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the United States, or a GCC country does not automatically make the traveler a citizen of that country.

Residence details should be entered only in fields requesting residence information.

Mixing Information From Different Passports

Dual nationals and recently renewed passport holders sometimes combine information from more than one document.

Examples include:

  • Nationality from one passport

  • Passport number from another

  • Expiry date from an old passport

  • Qualifying visa connected to a different document

  • Travel booking created with a previous passport number

Choose one passport for the application and verify every related detail before submission.

Uploading the Wrong Person’s Photograph

This risk is particularly high in family and group applications.

Open the image before uploading it and confirm that it belongs to the applicant named in the form.

File names such as photo1, passport-photo, or IMG_4582 can easily cause confusion.

Use clear file names that include the traveler’s name.

Using an Inaccessible or Incorrect Email Address

An incorrectly spelled or inaccessible email address can prevent the applicant from receiving application messages or the issued eVisa attachment.

Confirm:

  • Every character in the address

  • Access to the inbox

  • Available mailbox storage

  • Spam and junk folder settings

  • Whether the address will remain active through the journey

The official eVisa terms require a valid email address and state that an accepted eVisa is sent as an email attachment.

Providing an Inaccurate Travel Purpose

The tourist eVisa should reflect the genuine principal purpose of the journey.

Do not select tourism when the real intention is employment, formal study, residence, or Hajj.

A traveler may participate in permitted tourism activities, family or relative visits, leisure, events, or Umrah outside the Hajj route, but paid employment is not permitted under the tourist eVisa.

Submitting Before Reviewing the Application

Applicants should not rely solely on browser autofill, copied traveler profiles, or information saved from an earlier application.

Before payment, compare the form with the current passport and confirm that all uploaded files belong to the correct applicant.

This review is important because an application cannot be canceled after submission and application fees are not refundable when the application is unsuccessful.

Final Pre-Submission Review

Before submitting the Saudi Arabia eVisa application, answer each question:

  1. Am I using the correct eligibility route?

  2. Does the nationality match the passport?

  3. Will I travel with this exact passport?

  4. Does the passport meet the six-month validity condition?

  5. Are the full name and date of birth accurate?

  6. Has the passport number been checked character by character?

  7. Does the photograph belong to the correct applicant?

  8. Can the registered email address receive messages?

  9. Does the stated travel purpose match the actual journey?

  10. Have family members’ documents been kept separate?

  11. Has every field been reviewed before payment?

  12. Is all information true and current?

Do not submit the application when an important field is uncertain.

Check the passport, confirm the traveler’s answer, or obtain appropriate guidance before continuing.

Frequently Asked Questions About Saudi eVisa Requirements

Can I Apply While Living Outside My Country of Citizenship?

Yes, an applicant may have a country of residence different from the nationality shown on the passport.

The nationality, residence, address, and passport fields must each be answered accurately. Applying from another country does not change the applicant’s citizenship.

A route processed through a service center or embassy may have location-specific procedures, but this should not be confused with the standard online nationality-based eVisa route.

Can One Saudi eVisa Cover an Entire Family?

No. Each traveler needs visa information connected to their own identity and passport.

A parent or representative may prepare several applications, but one adult’s eVisa should not be treated as covering a spouse or child.

Can Someone Else Complete My Application?

Yes, provided that person has authority to act on the applicant’s behalf.

The representative must use the traveler’s genuine documents and accurate personal information. The traveler should review the completed application before submission whenever possible.

Can I Cancel an Application After Submitting It?

The official eVisa terms state that a submitted application cannot be canceled and that a refund cannot be requested.

Applicants should therefore review the complete form and payment details before submitting.

What Should I Do If My Passport Is Replaced?

Do not assume that an existing application or issued eVisa automatically transfers to the new passport.

Contact the appropriate official support channel before travel. Requests to modify an electronic visa must be directed to the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

What Happens If the eVisa Expires Before I Travel?

A traveler whose eVisa expires before entry must submit a new application and pay the applicable fee again.

The passport must also continue to satisfy the entry-validity requirement for the revised travel date.

Does Meeting Every Requirement Guarantee Approval?

No.

Meeting the stated requirements provides the basis for an application, but approval remains at the discretion of the responsible Saudi authorities.

Payment of the application fee does not guarantee approval.

Can Correct Documents Compensate for an Ineligible Travel Purpose?

No.

A valid passport, suitable photograph, and accurate personal details do not make a tourist eVisa suitable for employment, formal study, residence, or Hajj.

Both the applicant’s eligibility and the genuine purpose of travel must fit the selected route.
